Susannah Tisue
Ceramic Painter & Potter
What do you make?
I make mostly ceramics these days- hand painted porcelain cups, treating each as a small canvas- and creating characters and landscapes to
scatter from piece to piece. I love that each piece is used and interacted with in such a direct way every day.

What did you dream about last night?
most of my dreams happen during an hour of radio sleep, so are constantly sprinkled with current events, public figures... sometimes I dream about my fish.

What inspires you?
Ribbon caught in the tree outside of my window, winter scenes watched out of a passing car,
the NYPL picture collection...
Where do you live and what do you like about it?
I live in Williamsburg- enough out of the city to feel like a retreat and sandwiched between young urbanites and older italians- best of both worlds, with over the top holiday decorations (my favorites are the inflatable snowing globes) and opinions mixed with quality coffee, bars and barbecue.
What is your biggest fear?
being late/forgetting to show up
Name a few of your favorite movies \ books \ websites \ bands:
Books: anything by haruki murakami, moleskine planners and those beautiful "multi-drawing books" they sell at NY Central that are so perfect for watercolor, ink, anything
movies: The Red Balloon, Darjeeling Limited, McCabe and Mrs Miller

What are you really good at? What are you really bad at:
I hope that I am good at communicating well with whoever I am with. I am really bad at office work.
What is your favourite thing to eat?
can't go wrong with japanese food- I love the texture combinations and the beautiful presentation of it all
How would you like to be remembered?
fondly.
What is the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to you?
My sister claims I was tempted by a brightly colored animal cracker box in the car that turned out to
be dog biscuits.... I claim I never went so far as to chew...
